Summer 2012

Hello friends and family members =) As the warm days of June begin to unfold so does my summer of a lifetime along with it! As many of you already know my summer of 2012 will not be spent in the place where I have spent it the past 21 years of my life. Instead, I am embarking on a totally new journey filled with joy, hope, nervousness, and adventure. Six months ago I made what has to be one of the best decisions I have made thus far in life, and that is to be a counselor at the Double H Ranch, a serious fun camp up in Lake Luzerne, New York. Those who are not familiar with Double H, I will give a very brief description for you. The Double H Ranch, is a residential summer camp for kids and teens with life threatening illnesses. Not only is it a summer camp, but they also provide various programs throughout the year as well. The camp, which was co-founded by Charles Wood and Paul Newman began back in the early 90's and was created to provide a memorable camp experience. So often, children with life threatening illnesses are excluded and not thought of as being able to participate in all of the "fun" that takes place at camps around the world. Here, at Double H that's all thrown down the drain. There is no such thing as "not able", instead we focus on ways to adapt and make the experience of summer camp the best time in these children's lives. The best part is I get to be a part of this magical summer for 12 weeks straight! I have set up this blog to invite you to be a part of my summer of a lifetime. I am not saying you have to follow it, or read my, what may be at times long posts. However, I hope that if you decide to journey with me that you will find hope, strength and maybe even learn a life lesson here and there. I am going to be pretty busy and will not have a lot of time to get online. My goal is to update at least once or twice a week, but again that's just a goal. ;) Even if I don't get the opportunity to blog every week I will find someway to at least post a few pictures which will hopefully sum up the blank words. Anyways, I am looking forward to my summer of 2012 and I hope that everyone of you has a summer of a lifetime as well! Thank you!
PS: The pictures above are ones of Amanda's time at Double H. Thought it was appropriate to use them until I have some of my very own to show off! ;) HH<3
